Tribasic acid is a viscous liquid at room temperature with low volatility. It is soluble in various organic solvents such as ethanol, ether and acetone, but is insoluble in water. Tribasic acids and their derivatives are widely used in coatings, inks, lubricants, household heavy-duty detergents and fabric softeners.
Advantages of tribasic acid:
- Small addition amount, excellent anti-rust performance for ferrous metals
- Will not form resin or gel-like film on the metal surface
- Low foam and good air release properties
- Will not cause aluminum corrosion
- Hard water resistance up to 2000ppm
- Can be used in multi-metallic systems
- Does not generate nitrite
Terpolycarboxylic acid water-soluble rust inhibitors are used in all types of water-based lubricants and processing fluids, fully organic (OAT) or semi-organic engine coolants, biodegradable water-based hydraulic fluids, etc. The recommended adding amount is generally 0.2-1.5%. After neutralizing with alcoholamine or sodium hydroxide, it can be used in semi-synthetic cutting fluids, fully synthetic grinding fluids, aqueous quenching fluids and water-based cleaning agents, automobile antifreeze, anti-rust water and other water-based products. Used as a corrosion inhibitor additive for metals.
